I like the lims idea, but the downside is of course that people get eliminated. Better luck next time, Emma the Slayer! But the competition was really tough with so many truly excellent icons. (Not mine, though -- I count myself very lucky to have survived the round. Mine was #9 and all the negative votes were completely justified!)
