Round #10 - Challenge #5 - Voting

Rules:
- Vote for 1 icon of the least quality. Reasons such as 'I don't like' or 'It's too plain' are not allowed. Actually think about why you are voting out the icon. If the icon is too plain, why is that bad thing? What could have been done to improve the icon?
- Also vote for 1 icon that you feel is the best quality. The reason for this one is optional but encouraged.
- Keep your icon identity hidden until after the results are posted. Do not vote for yourself or get anyone to vote for you.
- You do not have to be a participant to vote (the more the merrier!).
- Positive votes do not take away from the amount of negative votes. This will change in the event of a tie.
- The comments are screened.
- If you entered and do not vote then you will not be eligible for Community's Choice or Mod's Choice.

#4 - reason- I really like the crop on this icon but it doesn't look like the artist did much in the way of coloring/brightening and the filling in of the background looks spotty.

#1 - reason - I like the silver/gray tones and muted coloring on Willow's hair along with the subtle light texture used.

#4 - reason: Close crop is too close, the background is weird and distracting, edges not cleaned up completely, too much shadow on the faces, bringing attention to the wrong parts of the image. With a plainer background, this icon might work.

#3 - reason (optional) While it is a smidge sharp, it gives it an almost comic book feel that works with the background and overall composition. Great coloring as well.

1 - (this is really hard because they are all great this week) I like the blurred border, but wish it was less around Oz's face so he felt like part of the image and not just background.

2 - Love the way you split the image, not with a straight line, but on the same diagonal as Buffy's eyeline. Clever!

Hello. Can you please expand on your least favorite vote? What about it is making it not stand out against the others? What could have been done to improve it. Thank you.

I kinda feel bad for criticizing other's icons when I haven't survied one single round. Actually I feel bad for criticizing. Also, I like them all and it's hard to choose. But then again - with so few participants other voters are needed. I'm definitely not speaking of the 'worst' though, cause there's no such thing. So here goes:

1 least quality icon:
#4 - reason: The background distracts from Willow and Tara. I think there's too much movement in it and an either contrasting or unobtrusive coloring would probably have looked better. The too sharp edges around their faces, partly even highlighted, would've maybe worked better then, too.
Additionally Tara's almost glowing hair draws the eye to it and away from the girls' profiles.

#3 - reason (optional): I'm impressed about the difference the brightening and recoloring makes! The artist managed to turn a dramatic, even tragic moment captured in this picture to a romantic, caring, loving one. That's incredible!


Additional comment: I also like very mucht #2, the emphasis the artist placed on their eyes glued together really hits me deeply.

#2 - I like the colouring of this one, but the cropping looks awkward. (Spike with a very small head and massive body in the top half; Buffy being cut off right under her nose in the bottom half.)

1 best quality icon:
#1 - Lovely lighting and contrast, perfectly fitting the mood of this scene. The hint of colour in Willow's hair is a nice touch.
